My daily carry weapon is usually a compact or full size .45 ACP or 9mm subcompact when I need to travel lightly. I'm not one to get into a war of caliber as accuracy should trump caliber size and in the 15 minute range, it's usually up your street from caliber size or which brand will.

However, I'm a fan of carrying a bigger caliber so they can shoot better. A well trained operator will handle his business with any caliber you throw at his hand, unfortunately many people do not receive the proper training in handgun sighting they rarely finish.
I saw the "Bodyguard 380" advertised but didn't have time to look into it, as I've never been a big fan of pocket pistols.
However, I strongly believe that context should always define processes and resources. With that, there's a specific place for pocket pistols.
Personally, I think pocket pistols work best as a second and third tool. Most of them don't have a bad vision system, the grip is small and often strong. Perhaps the biggest challenge I see with them is how they are often marketed. I see many people looking to buy them as a first firearm for new shooters. Many people have the misconception that because they are small in both length and caliber, they will be easy to shoot and will not feel the recoil.

When I went to my local gun shop today to take a closer look at the Bodyguard 380, I was very surprised to see how many great guns are packed into this little package.
The Bodyguard 380 has a polymer frame with a stainless steel slide. It also features fingerprint protection, anti-slip, external shock absorbers and an integrated display.
It has an adjustable stainless steel rear sight (reduced dovetail) and an integrated horizontal axis Insight laser sight with ambidextrous laser controls (steady, focused, off). The laser is equipped with a battery protection device that automatically turns off after five minutes.

It's just a double-action percussion semi-automatic pistol. While either action can help reduce accidental discharges, I've had a few questions from new shooters that I'm not comfortable with the long trigger. The drawdown appears to be around 8-9 lbs. However, successfully managing two long-term triggers is a lesson few others can easily relate to. It also features an iron rod.
The magazine for the 380 ranger has an extended thumb tab on the bottom to make the grip more ergonomic.
The Ranger 380 did well in range. The recoil system was effective and the recoil was what I expected from a sub 3 inch barrel and polymer frame. The weapon will then fire and eject the magazine. The slide also hangs on the empty magazine.
While I'm not quite ready to make the Guard 380 my everyday carry weapon, I will bring it to the fore for a pocket pistol. The $399 suggested retail price is a good value for the features built into the gun and explains why dealers are having a hard time keeping them on the shelf.

The Guardian 380 is more than suitable for use as a personal secret or secondary device. In my opinion, it's not a beginner's gun and works best in the hands of an experienced shooter.

The Bodyguard 380 pistol case comes with a red strap. This makes sense as the sights on the gun are not good. However, many people want a non-laser version.
In fact, the LAPD authorizes the Bodyguard 380 as a safety weapon, but only if the officer has used the laser unit. Smith & Wesson can see how the public wants a model with no extra purpose. Hence, this model was introduced.
Interestingly, all other types have been discontinued. I can imagine a lot of people want a gun without a laser.

The price of a pistol is determined by the range. For me, I see guns as tools and I want them to work well. If the gun doesn't dance on any trigger, I don't care.
Likewise, I wanted to see how realistic the gun could feel in my hands. The original ammo rack method is the same, but using scopes that include firing may affect accuracy.
The watch I used in this review was a loan from Smith & Wesson. It was brand new when I got it so I gave it a garage and cleaned it out of any damage after it was done before turning it over.

I take the rifle out there for many shooting sessions and put nearly 1,000 rounds into it over the course of several weeks.
Admittedly I don't have much ammo on hand for this pistol that I have for my 9mm test. However, five different loads just under 1k rounds is a better test than most people will do with this gun.
Controls: This gun is small and has a small grip. Even with the pinky extension and magazine butt, not all of my hands fit into the gun. There's a good chance you'll run into the same problem.
If you accept the shortness of the gun as part of the deal to own a small gun, you'll be fine. Other shooters may prefer larger handguns.
